Flight Unlimited II

Flight Unlimited II is the second game of the Flight Unlimited series of general aviation flight simulators created by Looking Glass Studios, acclaimed for their sophisticated physics and pioneering gameplay features. It was released in 1997. The game was preceded by Flight Unlimited and followed by Flight Unlimited III. A fourth, combat oriented game based on the ZOAR engine used in the third and second games, called Flight Combat: Thunder Over Europe, was in development when Looking Glass folded.

Unlike the first game, which was released in versions for Windows and DOS, it was developed for Windows 95 only and requires 3d accelerator hardware. The simulation eschews the original game's focus on aerobatics, in favour of creating an immersive civilian flight environment. This is achieved by the photo-realistic 3D mesh terrain, real-time air traffic control communications and large depth of non-player-controlled air traffic, features unrivalled at the time of release. A series of flight lessons covers basic flight manoeuvres. Support for IFR flying and approach vectoring is included. Flight challenges provide "missions".

LocoMania

LocoMANIA is s budget priced train simulation game from development house 7FX Ltd. This game has limited appeal for most players but there is a certain niche market out there. A quick look on the web shows some average reviews, mostly 5 and 6’s out of 10, but this could be worth a download if your into Trains considering its only about 200MB.

Loco Mania is a fast paced, action/strategy game that puts you in charge of managing an entire railway network. Players have to control switches, semaphores and train directions to get the trains through the system as quickly and efficiently as possible. Each level will put players through a multitude of tasks from getting trains to their destination on time to guiding trains with hazard laden cargo safely home. Successfully clearing the trains through the railway system improves the players score and unlocks maps to take the game through progressively challenging levels. Loco Mania will feature 12 maps each inspired by various European landscapes designed to provide a unique gameplay experience.

The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff

The Sims 2 gets more fashion possibilities with the Teen Style Stuff add-on.

Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff..... What's there to say? It's yet another Sims 2 expansion pack, but this time around it does something good. Sort of.

As you can guess by the title Teen Style is mainly for teens. It adds so pretty nice clothing and hair for teens, but it's nothing you couldn't get at a sims fan site for free. Basicly everything else Teen Style adds makes it a fairly good stuff pack. It adds new wallpaper, flooring, TVs, bookshelves, beds, carpets, you name it. Everything has one of three things. Goth, Surfer, or prep. The Preppy stuff is probably the most limited in the pack, it's basicly just for girls.

Microsoft's Flight Simulator X provides a mind-boggling level of depth and breadth--if you don't mind some less than stellar frame rates.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X is an incredible piece of software, providing almost unbelievable capabilities for a consumer product. Unfortunately, on most systems at anything other than the lowest of the game's graphics settings, the simulation has significant performance issues. How much these issues hinder your enjoyment of the game will depend upon what kind of frame rates you need to enjoy a civilian flight sim.

All of the features hardcore simmers have come to expect in the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise are here in spades, such as the entire world being modeled in exquisite detail; simulations of everything from ultralights to gliders to Cessnas to commercial airliners to helicopters; realism that makes the sim a great trainer for those seeking a real pilot's license; and more. But Flight Simulator X also adds significant features tailored to the player who would be bored to tears by simply flying from Akron to San Francisco in real time, most notably a series of goal-oriented missions (and an editor that will surely result in a huge number of add-on scenarios). These include well-done tutorials and many missions with compelling goals and surprising midflight twists. Some are lighthearted fun, such as playing the role of a stunt pilot (complete with announcer) trying to land on a moving bus or racing a jet-powered truck. Others are intense--for example, trying to fly a chopper to an exploding ocean oil rig and rescue stranded workers. Even simple missions have a compelling nature to them, particularly search and rescue scenarios where you may be seeking a capsized sail boat or a lost camper in snowy mountains. You collect rewards and souvenirs, which is a nice touch that adds an extra incentive to complete the tasks. Even hardcore simmers will find themselves sucked into these missions, wanting to find out just what's behind that clandestine mission flying into Area 51 or what is going to happen on your flight to pick up a famous movie star.

There are about 50 missions in the deluxe version of FSX and about 30 in the standard version. The deluxe version comes with 24 airplanes, versus 18 in the Standard version; more high-detail airports, 45 versus 40; more high-detail cities, 38 versus 28; the advanced Garmin G1000 glass cockpit; and the new tower controller module. This last feature lets you step into the control tower and take the role of the air traffic controller in multiplayer mode. While it probably won't keep you out of the cockpit for long, it is an interesting (and stressful) option. And for the record, if you're interested enough to purchase Flight Simulator X, you should go ahead and purchase the Deluxe version. All of the additional content makes it worth the added costs.

In addition to the missions, free flight mode provides practically unlimited options. You can select from any of the included aircraft (or add-ons that you may download or purchase) and fly to or from any of 24,000 airports around the world. Not only is it pretty much guaranteed that any significant airport that you'd like to fly in or out of is in the sim, but the odds are also good that your local neighborhood grass airstrip is in there, too. The new high-detail airports show off Microsoft's new "living world" emphasis in FSX. Now when you taxi into one of these featured airports, you'll see fuel trucks realistically dashing from gate to gate, luggage carts driving out to aircraft, Jetways extending to connect with your parked airliner, and more. The new active world extends beyond the airports, as you now can look down while in flight and see moving automobiles and trucks on the roads below. You'll also see a variety of boat and ship traffic while flying over water (buzzing a cruise ship with your 747 provides a special thrill!) and an assortment of wildlife, depending upon your location. While it sounds like a small touch, it does make a significant impact on the feeling that you're flying in a real-world environment.

In Farm Vet, the player character is a young teenager who has taken a job on a farm run by the local veterinarian. The player is challenged with building a thriving, healthy farm and treating enough animal cases to become a full-fledged vet, through the tutelage of the owner and the player's mentor. Players are free to explore and move around the real-time 3D farm environment as they heal sick animals, play fun farm-themed mini-games such as milking, horseback riding and egg collecting, as well as playing with and providing overall care for the animals. As the player gains confidence and has a few cases under their belt, the world expands to include more locations and new mini-games. If each level is completed successfully, the player receives promotions and eventually assumes full control of the farm.

Welcome to Megacity and welcome to your new job: bus driver!

Get behind the steering wheel of one of the many different bus models and master one of the countless tracks in the fictional city Megacity.

But keep and eye on the timeplan and transport as many passengers as possible. Reckless driving or unpunctuality will result in a bad reputation and penalty fees.

Only when you keep the schedule, you can arrive at the bus stop when the most passengers are waiting. Too early or too late and you won’t be able to sell that many tickets.

Depending on your success and reputation, the tracks get more difficult, longer and more complex.

Choose between different bus models, 8 different bus models are already included, more can be downloaded via the internet. But remember, only paying passengers will result in enough cashflow necessary to run the bus company.

Buy or rent larger busses, keep the service running and check up on all busses. Or invest in ad campains or special offers to attract more customers.

Extra income can be generated by renting ad spaces on the busses.

A total of 18 completely different tracks through different districts (suburbs, downtown, industrial, business center etc.) offer long hours of fun and challenges.

Prepare yourself for driving in all types of weather conditions (sunshine, snow, ice, rain, fog), different daytimes and the number of passengers depending on the daytime and weather as well.

The Sims 2 Seasons

By now, you've probably heard about The Sims. It all started with a little idea of controlling the lives of autonomous characters called "sims," and it took off in a big way to become a best-selling game series on multiple platforms--and on the PC, the series became infamous for its many expansion packs. The Sims 2 Seasons is the latest one, and unlike the last few expansions, this one doesn't add a zillion ambitious new features that make the game more complicated. Instead, it adds seasonal weather, crop farming, and some new group activities that can actually make the challenging gameplay of Sims 2 a more relaxed pastime. For players looking for a slower-paced experience that doesn't require you to keep track of the ins and outs of an in-game business--or constantly watch a hyperactive pet--this is a good thing.

Like the name of the expansion suggests, the primary addition that Seasons brings is...seasons. Specifically, weather and in-game events that correspond to different yearly seasons; in winter, for instance, snow falls, water freezes, and your sims can make snowmen. Certain seasons are more conducive to certain types of behavior than others; for instance, sims tend to be more amorous in summer.

You can manually change the current season in your neighborhood whenever you like. The season changes are heralded by new graphical weather effects, such as stormy weather and falling snow, that look quite good and change the look of your sims' neighborhood all year round. Many of the new seasonal activities are actually very useful, since they can fulfill your sims' personal needs (or "motives") for both social interaction and fun, and a good snowball fight also helps them build relationships with one another. Since much of The Sims 2's gameplay revolves around taking care of your little computer people's various motives of eating, sleeping, and going to the potty, these new features should be appealing to anyone who has found the series' micromanagement aspect a bit frustrating.

The same can be said of Seasons' new group items and its new agrarian gameplay. Seasons lets your sims become farmers and plant crops in the field; well-tended and watered plants eventually bear fruit (or vegetables) that can be sold at market or converted into a variety of juice drinks that can supercharge your sims, fulfilling their hunger and energy needs as well as letting them create goofier formulas like love potions. The expansion also lets you turn any nearby bodies of water into fishing holes, and it has a variety of fish and bait that your sims can use--again, while standing around with other sims, chatting away and building relationships while they wait for a fish to bite. Once caught, fish can either be mounted on a wall as a decoration or cooked up to provide powerful hunger bonuses.

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage

Bon Voyage is a worthwhile expansion that makes plenty of neat little additions to The Sims 2.

The Sims series' unique formula of simulating the lives of little computer people as they live, love, and go to the bathroom has been successful more or less from the start. Both the original game and the solid sequel, The Sims 2, have consistently stayed interesting, thanks to a never-ending stream of expansion packs. And Bon Voyage, the latest expansion for The Sims 2, adds a good amount of variety and some handy new options that make managing your computerized families' lives even easier.

The focus of this expansion is vacations--specifically, moving your family of "sims" out of the house and checking them into a fabulous resort hotel, then hitting one of three different vacation spots: sunny beaches, tea gardens, or ancient ruins. At these vacation spots, your sims try out leisure activities, collect souvenirs, and interact with the locals, who may teach your sims new "social" gestures specific to the area.

Even though three vacation venues may not sound like much, each setting offers multiple hotels with different price ranges, but all of them have enough in the way of basic services to help your sims survive their off-time. The better resort hotels have swimming pools, hot tubs, and other relaxing activities, but they all have handy, round-the-clock room service to feed your hungry sims; beds, showers, and TV sets to take care of their fatigue, hygiene, and entertainment needs; as well as plenty of other guests to socialize with. Since going on vacation suspends the regular flow of time from their home and professional lives (so they don't have to worry about missing a day of work), staying in a hotel makes life much easier for your in-game family.

Once you're settled in a hotel, you can take a cab (or hoof it) to a nearby tourist lot. There's a decent variety of tourist areas for each venue, including shopping and recreation areas where your characters can collect many different items, such as fresh fruit from the local market, or hidden treasure from rummaging through the cabin of an abandoned pirate ship. There are plenty of new social interactions and new activities to try at these venues as well, such as building sand castles or swimming in the oceans, which make excellent group activities. This helps shift the game's focus away from always worrying about your sims' needs (making sure they aren't hungry, tired, or bored) and makes it easier to focus on getting your virtual family into a fun-filled group activity quicker. And the ample population of other sims at both resorts and tourist areas provide plenty of opportunities for characters to network, make new friends, and learn new social gestures (such as bowing, which the kimono-wearing locals at the tea garden can teach you).

When your vacation is over, your sims check out of the hotel and can return home with plenty of mementos. Aside from purchased or scrounged souvenirs, which may appeal to pack rat players who simply must collect everything, your sims may have photos taken with the game's new photo camera, which lets you snap family photos (or ask a kind passerby to get a group shot for you). In addition, if your sims had a great time on their vacation, they'll be able to choose useful bonuses to their abilities on returning home, such as increased productivity at work, faster skill learning, and, perhaps most useful, an additional slot for their immediate "wants"--the short-term personal goals each sim carries around that, when fulfilled, can lead them to true happiness.

TV Giant (2008)

You don’t get to play a fun and original TV simulation game everyday and you will probably have to wait a little long because TV giant just does’nt look up to scratch. Released by group ViTALiTY a few moments ago you can develop and manage your own TV channels in what you can expect to be a very linear creation process. Another game being cracked and released is always a good thing though and them cracker(s) at ViTALiTY sure are good at what they do. If this genre interests you i would highly recommend The Movies from Lionhead studios as its a highly polished well done game, I’m afraid the same cant be said about this.

For the first time in a video game, you get to manage and develop your own television channel! There are four television channels sharing the local city network and vying for a share of the viewing figures. As the big boss of the channel you have to win the special prize, awarded every four years, for bringing in the largest audience and highest satisfaction ratings.
